Swiss Backgammon Championship & Open ResultsThe Swiss Backgammon Championship and Swiss Open 2010 took place between 27 and 29 August at the Casino Barriere in Montreux, SwitzerlandSwiss Open Denis Etienne of Switzerland is the winner of the Swiss Backgammon Open for 2010. He defeated World Backgammon Championship first Consolation winner Tobias Hellwag of Germany in the 15-point final. The first Consolation was won by Frédéric Rochat and the second Consolation by Gian-Reto Iseppi, who had also won the Play65 satellite held online. Swiss Backgammon Championship The Swiss Backgammon Championship, limited to members of the Swiss Backgammon Association, was championed by Serge Didisheim, who defeated American backgammon giant Robert Wachtel. Another international player who appeared among the top finishers was Clive Kay of the UK, who won the 1st Last Chance, and recently championed the EBGT Portuguese Open and directed the first Meribel Backgammon Tournament in the French Alps. Swiss Backgammon Open Champion and tournament organizer Etienne, the Swiss Open Champion, who has also played the Portuguese Open (2008) and the Nordic Open (2010), had nothing but compliments for the tournament organizers, the Swiss Backgammon Association: "The championship took place perfectly: magnificent room, friendly atmosphere; cocktail receptions offered; schedule pretty well respected", he said in an interview to Play65, the partial sponsors of the event.
