Learn Backgammon by the Book

An online backgammon veteran and a nameless blogger came up with a brilliant idea: to open a blog dedicated to the classic backgammon book Backgammon Boot Camp, or more accurately open a blog that shares his study how to improve the game assisted by the book.

Backgammon Boot Camp
was written by backgammon pro Walter Trice, first as individual articles to different online publications, which later compiled into a 57-articles book and published in 2004 by Fortuitous Press. The book covers range of important key points, starting from basic training and continuing with cube decisions, backgammons strategies until the final graduation and it was critically acclaimed by many of Trice's colleagues.

On top of being a type of cult book (for backgammon fanatics), Backgammon Boot Camp has other advantages making it suitable for this mission. Originally written in the beginning of the current millennium, after online backgammon has swept the world, what makes it far more updated than Paul Magriel's Backgammon, for example, which despite its eternal relevancy remains rooted in the 1970s when neural networks were no more than futuristic fantasy. Secondly, the book's skill level begins where many backgammon fans are: "better than a beginner but has a long way to go to get to intermediate or advanced".

The discussed blog is titled Learning Backgammon from Boot Camp was launched about a week ago, yet judging from the primary responses, it is going to fulfill its purpose and draw a growing group of "like minded people wanting to improve their Backgammon play", in the blogger's words.
