International Bristol Backgammon Open 2009 Results

Lawrence Powell of the UK has championed the 2009 Bristol Open, held on the last weekend of August 2009 in the company of top backgammon masters such as the reigning World Backgammon Champion, Masayuki Mochizuki of Japan and a team of strong Dane players, with Michael Sørensen (consolation winner), Pia Jeppesen (last chance champion) and Mikael Jensen, aka Jesus, among them.

The international backgammon event saw the largest number of participants in its four years history, with total of 100 entrants, 64 of them competing for the championship title that was finally captured by Lawrence Powell who defeated Martin Barkwill 15-5. Other winners include Ann Pocknell of the UK, who won the advanced flight, and Duncan Lee, also from the UK, who topped the intermediate competition.
