Bg in London WSOB Nordic Open Satellite 2008

The WSOB Nordic Open Satellite 2008 was the second WSOB qualifier set by Backgammon in Camden. Now named Backgammon in London and placed in the heart of the city at the Kings Store, the event was a huge success with 68 Entries, 33 Players, £2495 Prize Fund.

With the sponsorship of the World Series of Backgammon and Partouche Gammon, the entry fees were priced at £50. The champion, Murray Sharp won entry to the Championship Division of the WSOB and a £1200 worth voucher for 5 nights accommodation in Cannes, where the 2007-8 WSOB tour will take place in July.

The Nordic Open is the second in three qualifiers for the 2007-8 World Series of Backgammon tour. The first one, UK Masters, took place last November and had John Hurst of England as the winner. The 20th Nordic Open will be held in Copenhagen, Denmark, this March and it is expected to be the most exciting backgammon tournament in international terms.

The 20th Nordic Open is organized by the Danish Backgammon Federation and directed by Henrik Bodholdt. For the first time, the event will be a part of the World Series of Backgammon tour and a ladies tournament with free entrance and "feminine" prizes. The main event will be commented by backgammon stars Gus Hansen, Falafel and John Clark, with Hansen will also be playing at the event.
