Backgammon Blogs, Books and Hula Hoops Reading about backgammon on poker blog is far less surprising than finding interesting insights about backgammon on blogs written by professional hula-hoopers isn't it? Orange Paisely is a Latin student of Austin, Texas and a veteran member of the blogosphere, and she really makes her living out of hula-hooping! Her fields of interests are rich and variant and include, among lots of others, music, tango dance, Esperanto, fairy tales and games. Backgammon included.
In one blog post she (I assume she is a she, but I'm not confident about it and I will be really embarrassed to find out otherwise) recalls her young sister's mature backgammon skills, who played cubeless backgammon games with their mom on a nickel and "through the course of an afternoon she usually earned a dollar or two." In another, she recommends her favorite backgammon books: The Amazing Book of Backgammon by Jon Tremaine, Backgammon For Blood! by Bruce Becker, Better Backgammon by Tim Holland, Paradoxes and Probabilities: 168 Backgammon Problems by Barclay Cooke, Backgammon Games and Strategies by Nicolaos and Basil Tzannes.
Personally, I am not familiar with last two backgammon books in Orange Paisely's list, but do know the other ones and I deeply support her recommendation. The Amazing… is very basic; Backgammon For Blood! is a little bit anachronistic, but it brings new life to all those stories on how backgammon was so cool and popular in the 70s; and Better Backgammon by Tim Holland is a great book for players who already master the fundamentals. The book includes backgammon problems and their solution and in-depth position analyses.
